News & Reviews
2011 has been a busy year, working with a wide variety of clients and issues. I have been covering a whole range of HR activities from assisting new businesses taking on their first employees to designing and delivering training sessions to line managers and HR management students at Warwickshire College.
I’ve been delighted to receive some good reviews:
The work Lorraine did for Safeline was extremely useful and very professional in its delivery. This included aspects of guidance and advice relating to Employment Law and related procedures, the organisation and delivery of senior staff recruitment and the drafting and development of policies relevant to the Charity. At all times Lorraine was knowledgeable, supportive, positive and reliable. She met all deadlines and was proactive in creating necessary time frames to ensure compliance. She was clear when offering advice of a sensitive nature and thus supportive at times of concern. I would like to thank her personally also for her prompt and speedy support at all times

I contacted Bravo Zulu HR for general HR advice. As my business grew into a multi million pound company I found that my HR needs became too complex for us to handle internally. We were recommended Bravo Zulu and they provided us with everything from contracts of employment through to discipline, grievance and even ICT policies and procedures I would recommend them as it has freed up valuable time to concentrate on growing my business by taking away my HR worries.

Lorraine designed and delivered a Disciplinary Workshop also producing a Manager’s Guide to the Disciplinary Process. The workshop was thorough, stimulating, relevant and professionally delivered. The interactive nature of the workshop gave the Managers an opportunity to put the theory into practice, case studies were relevant to our business and all questions were answered clearly and effectively, using examples from Lorraine’s wealth of knowledge and experience in HR. On completion of the workshop, the Managers felt more confident and better equipped to manage their people and approach the disciplinary process. I would thoroughly recommend the services of BravoZulu HR.

Having met her through the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, First Class were one of the very first to engage Lorraine to assist a client who needed some HR support on a short-term basis. Lorraine's personable and down to earth approach to provision of Human Resources and employment law support compliments her solid HR background, experience and knowledge. As well as the administrative details of policies, contracts and handbooks, Lorraine specialises in supporting organisations and individuals through grievance and disciplinary issues. I would not hesitate to recommend her.

We are very grateful to Lorraine for her HR expertise. Her flexible, efficient and professional approach is a perfect fit for Coracle Learning. Knowing we can call her with the smallest query is reassuring and valued. Lorraine is much more than just a supplier. Give her a call...

We came to work with Lorraine at BravoZulu HR having previously worked with her during her corporate working life. I knew her to be professional, resourceful, cheerful and great at making a difference and making it happen. The results of her work are already beginning to show.

Lorraine is prompt, reliable and efficient. Having worked with her as an HR professional for some time she was the obvious choice when we needed a policy reviewed at short notice and did not have the capacity in house at the time to carry out the task. Lorraine did an excellent job in bringing the policy up to date with current legislation incorporating quality HR practice and procedures too.

Lorraine is always able to provide us with in-depth knowledge in relation to human resources issues. She is highly respected for this and is also prepared to ask the more difficult and challenging questions! If further investigation or information is required, Lorraine is always willing to seek out the facts and ensure a full and balanced view is taken. She has been an asset to the team.

2011 Case Studies
Working with the Board of Trustees to restructure a charity and then drafting up relevant HR policies and procedures to help the charity be both legally compliant and help them move forward as they expanded their number of employees. (December 2011)
Reviewing new employee contracts, disciplinary and grievance procedures as well as drafting a short policy statement on The Bribery Act that came into force in July 2011. In addition, inappropriate use of company ICT, in particular accessing Facebook, required a draft ICT policy to lay down guidance to employees regarding whether social networking sites could be used at work and how. This brought clarity to both employees and employer, minimising the risk of unnecessary misunderstandings. After an initial on-site meeting, liaison with this client was by phone and email which helped him to keep down costs and he now has processes in place that are up to date with the law. (October 2011)
Conducting a grievance appeal meeting for a very small business, providing impartial advice in line with current legislation and good practice. (August 2011)
Undertaking a large project for a medium sized business that had expanded through merger with two other businesses. This involved working alongside the existing HR team to gather data on the differing terms and conditions following the merger and make recommendations to the Senior Management team on how to structure pay and conditions for the future. (June 2011)
Providing hands on support with regards to the recruitment of a General Manager. This involved assessing the organization’s needs of the new post, designing the job role, selecting appropriate media to advertise the post, coaching the interview panel through shortlisting, interviewing and giving appropriate feedback to candidates and the preparation of a contract of employment. (April 2011)
Assisting with a re-organization of a business – this involved briefing management team on legal obligations, meeting staff affected by changes, preparing job descriptions within the new structure. (Feb 2011)
